Warren-Testimonial of A Repair Case
In 1987 I underwent a number of transplant sessions along with four scalp reductions. Unfortunately all plugs were of the 4mm type (about 140 total), resulting in massive open donor scarring, and plenty of scalp scarring. All these years I could not find a doctor that would touch me for repair (I was deemed unrepairable). I began perusing these forums about three years ago and made an informed decision in choosing The Woods Technique for repair.
I wanted these two doctors to see me in person, so around August of 2004 I flew from Eastern US to Australia for a consultation. They related that plugs would be either excised and/or thinned, body hair (for my case) would have to be used, and that the growth of body hair (especially in scarred areas) may take awhile (up to two years).
During November/December 2004, I again flew to Australia to undergo these procedures at the Woods Clinic. Skin grafting and approximately 2000 body hair grafts were utilized.
Please bear in mind that I went through 19 years of people staring at my head when I wasnt wearing a hat. It was bad enough the plugs stood out like a sore thumb, but what made it worse was that the plugs were stereotypically bad, and is even made fun of in the movies. It was so bad I could not move on with my life.
After 13 months, I am extremely happy with the results. Body hair is working. I have seen some new hair sprouting just in the last month or so (both in scarred and non-scarred areas). People do not stare at my hairline anymore. This feeling is priceless.
Readers need to understand that for many repair cases, body hair is all that one has for use. If Dr. Woods and Dr. Campbell had not originated and developed non-strip procedures along with body hair transplantation, what would I have done? I owe them a debt of gratitude for turning my life around, and giving me the confidence to move ahead with my life.
